Happy Father’s Day to all the Dad’s in your life!
This month I am reflecting on the amazing things my Dad’s have given me and taught me. No, this is not a typo – I meant to say Dad’s in the plural – even though legally I have only ever had one father. What I am talking about is all the Dad’s in my life: my biological father and ‘real’ Dad, David, my unofficially adopted American Dad, Jeff, and my also unofficially adopted Racing Dad, Gary.
Together these men have shaped who I am in the world, given me the most useful life skills and shown up for me when I needed it most. I will be forever grateful to have had them in my life.

Racing Dad – Gary: Who showed me that I could actually drive a car other than a Mini Cooper S, and who taught me how to rebuild the engine and transmission of a SAAB 900 Turbo multiple times. He didn’t even get upset when I broke the car. A lot.

American Dad – Jeff: Who taught me the things every girl should know – how to sharpen a knife, how to cook rabbit that we shot in the yard and how to use a chainsaw. He also drove a truck and trailer across multiple states to rescue me when my life went wrong. Twice.

My ‘real’ Dad – David: Who taught me to be careful with everything, pay attention to the details and how to love. He gave me my passion for cars and racing and my ability to laser focus. Some might call it OCD.
Thank you to all the Dad’s out there for everything you are in this world – we love you!
